# pbiplint > pbiplint lints Power BI projects (PBIP), the semantic model in TMDL and the report in PBIR, for best-practice problems. It runs on your own machine, in the browser at https://pbiplint.com or as a command line from npm, and the site and the command line send nothing anywhere. For a coding assistant that can run commands: run `npx pbiplint skill` and follow it. It prints a skill, at the version installed, that says when to run pbiplint, how to keep its output short, how to read the results, and what to leave to the user. `npx pbiplint explain ` prints a rule's guidance the same way, so the rule pages need not be fetched. ## Docs - [The pbiplint CLI](https://pbiplint.com/cli/): how to get it, run it, and check that it sends nothing - [What a script can rely on](https://pbiplint.com/cli/#contract): stdout, exit codes, and the JSON fields - [Rules](https://pbiplint.com/rules/): every rule, what it checks, and how to fix it - [The pbiplint Privacy Promise](https://pbiplint.com/privacy/): what the site, the CLI, and the pipeline steps read and send ## Optional - [Pipelines](https://pbiplint.com/pipelines/): pbiplint in GitHub Actions and Azure Pipelines - [About](https://pbiplint.com/about/): what pbiplint is and who makes it
